Progress and saving
That's on purpose. The rings measure what you still remember, not what you did once. Every flashcard and MCQ you answered starts to fade over time, the same way your memory does. Games and videos fade over about a week. To bring a ring back up, review: rate the flashcards it shows you and answer the MCQs again. This is to mimic the forgetting curve.
Your progress is saved in the browser you used, on that device. It does not follow you to another computer, another browser, or your phone. Pick one device and one browser for your studying and stick with it.
No, sorry. Clearing your browser history or site data erases it, and incognito/private windows never save it in the first place. There's no backup on my end. Don't study in incognito.
No. Progress only comes from doing the work: answering MCQs, rating flashcards, finishing games, and finishing videos. Clicking around doesn't count.
Games
Games are a reward, not the main event. The hardest and most important parts of the exam are the stimulus-based questions and the writing, so that's where most of your time should go. Each unit's Games tab unlocks after you get 20 of that unit's practice questions right. Go to MCQ Practice (or Cumulative Review) and work through questions. Wrong answers don't count, and getting the same question right twice only counts once. Each question gives you 10 seconds to read before you can answer. Unlocking opens the games for 30 minutes. When the 30 minutes are up, the Games lock again, and you only need 5 more questions right to open them for another 30 minutes. You can keep doing that: 30 minutes of games, then 5 more questions. The lock screen shows a progress bar so you can see how close you are.
Each unlock lasts 30 minutes, counted on the clock from when the games open, whether you are playing or not. After that, get 5 more questions right and they open back up for another 30 minutes. The first unlock only counts questions you got right in the last 7 days, and if your last 30 minutes of games ended more than 7 days ago, you need 20 right again.
No! I mean, I can. But isn't it more rewarding to earn it!!
Locks and breaks
Sleep matters more for your test score than another hour of cramming. The site closes from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Starting at 9:00 PM you'll see a timer counting down to 11. Plan your studying so you're done before 11. I would rather you sleep than stay up studying.
After 25 minutes of studying on the site, it asks you to take a 5-minute break. Short breaks help you remember more than one long session does. If you leave the site for 5 minutes or more on your own, that counts as your break.
Studying
Open the unit and click "How to Work This Unit." It gives you a step-by-step game plan and a quick tour of every tab. In general: read the Study Guide, learn the Flashcards, then practice MCQs and writing.
Quick Check tells you right away if each answer is right or wrong, with an explanation. Use it while you're learning. Test Mode makes you answer the whole set before you see anything, like the real exam. Use it to find out what you actually know.
Knowing what you don't know is a skill. If you're sure and wrong, that's the topic you most need to fix. Your confidence also helps the site decide when to show you that question again.
It uses spaced review. Cards you rate as hard come back soon. Cards you know well come back later, right around when you'd start to forget them. Rate yourself honestly or the system can't help you.
Do a little every day instead of everything the night before. Review the flashcards the site brings back, do MCQ Practice in Test Mode, and try a Brain Dump to see what you can recall without notes. Use the Study Guide for anything you missed.
Writing
Not like I do. Writing Drills give you quick feedback and model answers to compare with yours, but they can't give you a real score. Bring your writing to me if you want it graded.
The Writing Guide (on the home page) explains how to write the SAQ, LEQ, and DBQ, and what earns each point.
